Jamie Golub – President

Jamie Golub joined Modern Electric Co. in 2010 as an Electrical Apprentice under the IBEW Local Union 164 Apprenticeship Program. He learned the industry working in the field and gained much of his electrical experience from his father, Alan Golub. In 2015, Jamie obtained his NJ Electrical License and became more involved in the day to day operations of Modern Electric Co., along with estimating, project management and service work.  In 2020, Jamie became President of Modern Electric Co.  Jamie is a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Construction Round Table (CRT), New Jersey Subcontractors Association (NJSA), International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

 

Jamie graduated from the University of Colorado in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Degree with an emphasis in Finance.

Michael Hadam – Chief Operating Officer

Michael is currently serving as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Michael is responsible for positioning the company for success by setting and implementing comprehensive business goals, growth strategies, and operational processes and procedures that enable the business vision. Mike has developed many of Modern Electric’s top accounts, including Princeton University, Hartz Mountain Industries, Haskell Engineering and Construction, and Target Corporation, and continues to make client relationships and business development a top priority. Michael has been with Modern since 1997 and has 36 years in the electrical contracting industry.

 

 

Michael was an instructor at Somerset County Vocational Tech for the Apprentice Program from 1998 until 2008.

David Calao – Executive VP of Estimating and Design

Dave has worked in the Electrical business since 1982 starting as a Project Foreman.  As Chief Estimator/Project Manager, he estimates projects upwards of $10M, supervises purchasing, reviews submittals, coordinates releases with project schedules and is involved in contract negotiations.

 

He has completed Design-Build projects up to $6.5M and has worked on projects including Hackensack Hospital New Research Building, The Promenade in Edgewater, NJ, the Merck Health Physics Support Facility and Bldg. 805 in Rahway, NJ.

Matthew T. Glennon, P.E., LEED Certified – Vice President

Matt has over 37 years experience in Management, Engineering, and Construction.  As Vice President, he is involved in the day-to-day management of the office operation, as well as Business Development and Project Management. Matt joined Modern Electric Co. in 2002, bringing with him a Business and Engineering background that includes Electric Utility Operations and Maintenance, Industrial Plant Engineering and Design, Forensic Engineering and Accident Investigation, and Insurance Risk Management.

 

Matt is a graduate of Manhattan College where he earned a Bachelors of Engineering Degree (Electrical Engineering). He also has a Masters of Engineering Degree in Electric Power Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey, New York and a Senior Member of IEEE.

John Predham – Director of Business Development

With over 35 years of experience in the Electrical industry, John serves as the Director of Business Development, playing a pivotal role in expanding relationships with Modern Electric Co. across different geographical areas and emerging industry markets. His extensive expertise encompasses a diverse range of electrical projects, including large distribution centers, educational institutions, medical/hospital facilities, assisted living residences, hospitality establishments, retail spaces, solar installations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), geothermal projects, Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers, LED lighting retrofits & controls, Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs) and luxury residential developments.

John embarked on his career as an Electrical Apprentice with the IBEW Local Union 215 in Poughkeepsie, NY, which later merged with IBEW Local Union 363, where he earned his NYS Journeyman card. Over a span of 26 years, John successfully operated his own Electrical Contracting business, undertaking projects in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential sectors across NY, CT, NH, FL, and the Caribbean. His extensive experience is complemented by numerous master electrical licenses held in NY, CT, NC, and FL.

In addition, John holds various safety certifications, including OSHA 30 and NYC DOB SST card.

Steven Cochrane – Superintendent

Steve has been part of the Modern Electric Co. team since 1989.  As an Apprentice, Journeyman and Foreman, he has been hands on throughout numerous projects in Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Commercial, Retail and Refrigeration.  He has been a member of the IBEW Local Union 164 for over 30 years.  As a Superintendent, Steve’s responsibilities include but are not limited to, complete oversight of projects, coordinating manpower, reviewing and ensuring value engineering of contracts, as well as making sure all projects stay on track while maintaining Modern Electric Co.’s high standards of safety and professionalism.

 

Steve holds an Associates Degree in Computer Electronics and an Electrical Contractor’s License for the State of New Jersey. He has also completed numerous industry and safety training courses including OSHA 30.

Michael Podwats – Superintendent

Mike started with Modern Electric Co. in 1995 and has been a highly valued superintendent for Modern Electric Co. since 2011 and has over 34 years of experience in the electrical construction industry. His duties include project coordination, layout of electrical systems, reviewing plans and specifications, estimating projects and coordination of manpower for various projects. Mike has supervised and worked on office fit-outs, restaurants, fast-paced retail projects, pharmaceutical plants including Roche Molecular Systems, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, DSM Nutritional Products and Merck as well as supermarkets, banks, refrigeration projects, energy management systems installation and higher educational institutions such as Princeton University and Drew University.

 

Mike has been a member of IBEW Local Union #102 since 1986.

Ray Conklin – Purchasing Manager

Has worked in the electrical industry for 21 years.  Prior to joining Modern Electric Co., Ray began his career at an electrical supply house working inside and outside sales, and worked his way up to the Switchgear department.  Through this time, Ray also worked for an Electrical contractor as an Estimator and Purchaser.  He spent some time in the field to gain the experience and knowledge to become a better estimator and purchaser.

 

Ray has extensive experience working in commercial and residential sales, customer service, negotiations, estimating and purchasing. Ray also holds a Forklift Operator License and is OSHA trained.

Tom Dietze – Service Manager

Tom has been in the Electrical industry since 2004 and with Modern Electric Co. since 2010. He has completed a rigorous NECA/IBEW Journeyman Inside Wireman training apprenticeship program through IBEW Local Union 164. As a former Upstate New York Master Electrician and licensed New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor, Tom is well suited for ensuring quality customer service and prompt response to emergencies of all shapes and sizes.

 

As service manager of Modern Electric Co., Tom manages a well- equipped fleet of service and small scope electricians, provides quotes for jobs and manages small and medium sized jobs. Some of our main service department customers are supermarkets, commercial offices, and retail owners.

Frank Chupinka – Senior Project Manager

Frank has been an IBEW Local Union Electrician since 1999. In 2011, he became an Estimator and Project Manager and joined Modern Electric Co. in 2016.  Frank handles estimating, negotiations with customers, sales and buyouts.  He manages all aspects of a project from beginning to completion.

 

Frank currently holds a NJ Electrical License.

Joseph Alfaro – Project Manager

Joe has been a Union Electrician for over 35 years. In that time, he has been a foreman for 10 years, a Supervisor for 20 years and now a Project Manager for 5 years. He currently holds an Electrical License in the state of New Jersey. He has significant experience in the field and many contacts in the supermarket industry.

 

Joe is a graduate of Lyms Institute in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Albert Lopes – Project Estimator

Albert has worked in the Electrical Industry since 2014.  He joined the Modern Electric Co. team in 2019 as a Project Estimator. He has estimated projects such as hospitals, schools, supermarkets, data centers and pharmaceutical companies up to $20 million dollars.  Albert carries much experience and knowledge in all areas of the Electrical Industry, including but limited to contract negotiations, purchasing and project management.

 

Albert graduated Hudson Community College in 2011 earning his Associates Degree in Engineering Science as well as being placed on the Dean’s list and inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  He continued his education in 2011 and attended the NJ Institute of Technology and graduated in 2013 with his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Kosta Getov – Project Estimator

Kosta has been involved with the electrical industry since 2001. He joined Modern Electric Co. in 2010 as a project manager. Performing budgets, conceptual estimates, detailed takeoffs and contract negotiations are just some of his daily tasks.

 

Kosta holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, as well as a Masters of Science in Construction Management.

Ramneet Singh – Electrical Project Engineer

Ramneet has been in the Electrical Construction industry since 2014. He has worked on BIM projects up to $25M across the education, high-rise residential, industrial, pharmaceutical and commercial sectors across the Tri-State area. Ramneet joined the Modern Electric Co. team in 2019 and brings with him great knowledge and experience in Estimating, Project Management as well as Project Layout and Coordination. He is currently involved with the review of contract drawings and specifications, data integration workflow, design of code-compliant 3D electrical installation models and works with other trades incoordination, including clash detection and query resolution along with the development of prefabrication BOM and shop drawings to be issued for construction. Ramneet has an extensive background in BIM-related software consisting of AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, Revit and BIM 360 Glue, in addition to others.

 

Ramneet is a graduate of the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a certificate in Electrical Systems Design from NYU SCPS.
